The Big Nave Dig has started and Thursday 18th August, 10am to 4pm you are invited to an Open Day by Lismore Parish Church and Comann Eachdraidh Lios Mòr.

Come and see what the team of archaeologists and volunteers have uncovered at the ruined nave and tower of the medieval Cathedral of Argyll. Archaeologists Clare Ellis and Mark Thacker will be on hand to interpret what you can see and answer the many questions: When were the different parts of the cathedral built? Where is all the building stone from the nave? Was the lime used burned from the island limestone Was the nave used as a burial ground after it was ruined and did we find any bones? What is the mysterious wall in the middle of the nave and what is the big pile of stones in the corner of the field?

Join the Lismore team on Thursday. All ages welcome. Refreshments all day.
