Growing up on Lismore, an event at the Heritage Centre , invited islanders of all ages to a party where they could swap their memories, photographs and even talk about their experiences in a real recording studio.
it was organised by Caroline Willis, Helen Crossan and Kiki MacColl of Liosbeag Café, and it attracted people from on and off the island. In the exhibition room, the curators had projected photos of Lismore childhoods and mounted photographs on stands. The library had been set up as a real television studio by Andy Crossan where Helen Crossan recorded the memories of Iris MacColl, Archie MacGillivray, Alex McLean, Duncan Livingstone, Bessie Kilmurray as well as Caroline, Frances and Mark Willis.
In Liosbeag café, where Kiki provided an excellent buffet, tables were strewn with old photos which everyone pored over with great enthusiasm and Bob Hay was on hand to copy in the office on request. The children were invited to write their stories which Katie MacDonald, Ealasaid MacLean, and Eve Lawrie did enthusiastically.
