Wednesday 22 October   is Gaelic Day

From 2pm-4pm  in the Heritage Centre  an informal talk from Robert Hay about t Childhood of Alexander Carmichael:, Folklorist and compiler of “Carmina Gadelica”. ,  and and walk round his home and school if weather permits. .

At 7.30 pm  in the Lismore Public Hall Helen Crossan will introduce and show showing  Tobar an Lios, a selection of short films made as part of the Recording Memories project, 2013-4.

The Comann Eachdraidh Lios Mòr appointed Helen as the  Heritage Recorder in 2013 with funding from  Bòrd na Gàidhlig and Argyll & Bute Council (Third Sector),  since when she has been recording the memories of the older residents with an emphasis on Lismore Gaelic.

This follows her editing of the very successful Cradle of Master Mariners, a film in Gaelic and English, about the sailing smacks that worked out of Port Ramsay. Helen has wide media experience and this is a viewing not to be missed.
