A letter to the community from curator Jennifer Baker:
The first year of my contract as Curator in the Community is now completed and so far eleven households have been visited by either me or volunteers. Objectsand archive have been photographed and documented for museum records.
Work is ongoing with some of these. This part of the project should finish in July but, if there is more to be done, I will certainly continue till the end of the contract in March 2010.
This is a unique project. It is really important that we make the most of the funding provided. So please, if you have anything in your attics/barns/cupboards that you think might be of historical significance for the island, contact me so that I can document it and, if you wish, provide you with boxes, envelopes and acid free paper to store and preserve. Tel 760030 (Museum) or 760360 (home).
In addition, if you have any object or document that you have questions about, I can seek expert and specialist advice.
Many thanks.
Jennifer Baker
