11 am at the Heritage. Opening of the Book Week Desk for Ticket Sales, Start of the Second Hand Book Sale and a Display of Scottish Book Plates.
2 pm – 4pm at the Heritage Free Children’s event: “Where Do Stories come from?” – find out from Mavis Gulliver, poet, naturalist and author of “Cry at Midnight”, a new fantasy adventure set on the Isle of Tiree.
7.30 pm Lismore Public Hall: Lesley Riddoch on her new book “Blossom: What Scotland Needs to Flourish”

2 pm at the Heritage: Jim Hunter introducing his most recent book: “From the Low Tide of the Sea to the Highest Mountain Tops”
7.30 pm at the Heritage Round Table discussion: Are there lessons for Lismore, from Jim Hunter’s book?
Wednesday 22 October Gaelic Day
2pm-4pm The Childhood of Alexander Carmichael: Folklorist and compiler of “Carmina Gadelica”. An informal talk and walk round his home and school. Indoors if wet.
7.30 pm Lismore Public Hall First showing of Tobar an Lios, a selection of short films made as part of the Recording Memories project, 2013-4.

2 pm – 5 pm at the Heritage “The Writing Life or Why I Have to Write”. An open discussion amongst visiting and resident writers, and aspiring writers. Participating writers go free!
6 pm till late. heritage cafe Book Week Dinner: A Celebration of Food in Books.
Friday 24 October 2014
10.30 at the Heritage:Alan Riach “The Community of Scotland and the Arts of Independence”, introducing “Arts of Independence: The Cultural Argument and Why it Matters Most” (A Riach & A Moffat)
2 pm at the Heritage Alan Riach. Poetry in Company with readings of his own poetry.
8 pm Closing Ceilidh with local and visiting talent.
