Children’s Book Day 5 September 2016

The first day of Book Week  was for the schoolchildren who spent all day in the Museum. In the morning they learnt how to write and illustrate a story with Jennifer Baker and Sarah Campbell who were on hand to launch their brand new  children’s book “The  Tartan Trampoline”  which Jennifer, the writer,  read to an enthralled audience. After wards they set about writing and  illustrating their own stories with great enthusiasm..

In the afternoon Catriona Lexy Campbell, an actor, poet and performer, worked with them creating a group story asking the children for suggestions about the plot character action etc. They loved it.

On Tuesday 6 September at 2.30 pm  Alan Riach,  poet and Professor of Scottish Literature at Glasgow University, introduced us to the “The Birlinn of Clanranald”  his acclaimed translation from the Gaelic of an epic song of homage to ocean, ships and sailors.
