An appreciative audience visited Ionad Noamh Moluag, for the launch of Ted and Elizabeth Odling, a book about two artists of the west of Scotland, written and produced by their children, Noelle, Christopher and Nicholas Odling.
Barbara McDougall opened the event launch and the accompanying exhibition of their work in the heritage library. Noelle spoke about her parents who, to many, were already well known for their great personalities as well as their art, as they had moved to the island in 1982 when Ted retired from the Glasgow School of Art.
The book covers their creative careers, Ted as a landscape painter whose interest in science and technology generated many ideas when combined with his artistic talent, and Elizabeth’s brilliantly detailed illustrations, drawings and watercolours of nature as well as embroidery and quilting.
