For people in Lismore and the West Highlands, place names have always been an important part of individual and community identity. This booklet documents names which are not widely documented on existing maps though most have been recognised from one generation to the next and kept alive by oral tradition.

Here you will find references to events (Carn nam Marbh), prominent individuals (Taigh Mairi an Dotair), or geographical features (Cnoc na Beithe). However the common thread is that the names have impacted on the lives of countless people some of whom may have contributed to their origin.
This booklet is a great resource for local historical societies, school libraries, and to anyone with an interest in Lismore and the surrounding area. Written in Gaelic and English with detailed maps and photographs, its 31 pages make a great deal of fascinating information conveniently available in one place.
