St Andrew’s Dinner

by | 30 Nov 2012 | Events

St Andrew’s night was celebrated in some style with a Scottish themed, beautifully decorated cafe and an abundance of delicious Scottish food. Beth Campbell’s ability to entertain large numbers with seemingly very little effort is already well known as is the coolness and efficiency of her assistant Carol MacLean.

Along with the menu came a handout of interesting facts about St Andrew, the brother of  Simon Peter and one of the original 12  apostles.  The origins of his role as the Patron Saint of Scotland is  thought to date back to 733 when some of his relics were brought to St Andrews in Fife.

The great thing about Beth’s dinners is that they feed your brain as well.

In all there were six courses: leek and potato soup, salmon salad, a choice of roast highland Sailean beef/chicken or roast Portobello mushrooms all served with Haggis (meat or veg) clapshot, mashed potato and whisky gravy. There was then a choice of Clootie dumpling or Crannachan followed by tea and coffee with homemade tablet.
